The future of virtual reality just got a little more real
Oculus Quest 2.0 is finally here! The company announced their latest headset, Oculus Quest 2.0, a mobile VR headset that offers six degrees of freedom (6DoF) without any external hardware needed. Unlike other headsets, which require a separate PC or mobile phone to function, this one is completely standalone, meaning it will have access to everything in the ecosystem. This includes things like Oculus TV and Oculus’s growing catalogue of quality content. Oculus Quest has a very different design from its predecessors. It resembles a set of ski goggles, housing two displays with a large black “pouch” made out of foam rubber on both sides to house the integrated sensors required for inside-out tracking.
It’s been said that most things exist in three dimensions. VR will make you believe that the world is really only two-dimensional.
